2 weeks with the queen is a novel by Morris Gleitzman staring a young 12 year old boy who goes to live with his cousins in England while his brother has cancer . The title of the story is a pun (a word that has more than 1 relevant meaning) because its says queen as royal but the queen they talk about is what people used to call gay people “queens”. I think the moral of the story is to say Cancer is serious and it’s unfair to judge people if their gay.

Morris Gleitzman essay

Essay

Morris Gleiztman is trying to get a message across with humour through the character Colin . The author tries to tell people that cancer is serious and that its not right to beet people up just because their gay , Gleitztman tries to do this in a humors way Like this:
The business man shifted in his seat and gave another grunt of pain
‘Is that a bit of cancer? ‘.asked Collin .
Morris does these in events like Colin meeting Ted or Colin finally growing up and maturing . Eventually Morris finishes with Colin coming to Luke and doing the only good thing he can do for Luke ….. Be by his side.

Next Paragraph

Gleitztman uses humorous actions or humor to get his message across like Colin being wrong almost all the time like thinking Luke has gastric or an in flight cricket pitch on an aeroplane , Colin thinking anything with the name queen is owned by the queen or asking if the man on the plane “had a bit of cancer?” but over some time Colin grows up and starts to think more about what he’s doing like going to see Luke and getting Ted the wheelchair to see Griff or realizing their might not be a cure for cancer.

In addition to this, Colin has been selfish until he grew up like saying “bet nobody gave you draggy school shoes “to the queen on the tv or “kids today don’t no how we’ll off they are “. When he found out Luke had 4 lots of Christmas pudding . Or wanting a statue of his glory out in the front yard or for mum and dad to praise him when he brings home the worlds best doctor or the cure for cancer .

Morris Gleitztman tries to tell people the importance of facing up to reality . In events like Colin meeting Ted or him going to London it helps us to understand that Colin’s only tring to help but would love to be praised and that’s what motivates him . Through the eyes of Colin there’s alot of things that he doesn’t understand but thinks he does and that leeds him to be selfish and wrong and doesn’t realise how good his life is , he turns good into bad like he hated Luke but at the end he loved him , but Colin doesn’t realise or see the bad things until the end when he really understands what’s happing .

Paragraph

Colin changed from trying to find cures for cancer or talking to the queen to get the best doctor in the world to starting to be more realistic.

“If they’ve even got a 1 (a cure for cancer).

This shows that Colin started to mature and grow up and started to realise that cancer is more serious and he didn’t have enough education to go to South Africa to see the ancient tribes for the cure “If they have even got a cure”.

2 weeks with the queen

This is a book about a boy called Colin who has a brother called Luke . Around Christmas time Luke gets almost everything he wants and eats 4 Christmas puddings. And all Colin gets s new school shoes . Later in the book they find out Luke has cancer and Colin’s parents ask him to go to England so he doesn’t have to go through his brother having cancer . Colin was quite selfish and only thinks of himself he only agrees to go to England so he can go to the queen and ask her for the best doctor . After a while of Colin sneaking out of his aunties house because they hate the queen and live in the country he finds a man called Ted . After a 1 week Colin finds out Teds gay ! Colin found this out from people spray painting queens on the wall and beating him up he helps Ted to get to the hospital to see his boyfriend who had aids and cancer . Colin tried to go off to Africa to go to ancient tribes to get a cure for cancer but after a while Colin starts to grow up and decided to go to Luke to be with him . From the beginning Colin was selfish and only cared for himself self but at the end Colin grew up but only after two weeks with Ted . Something selfish Colin says to the queen on tv “bet you got what you wanted ” something unselfish and mature Colin says , when he’s talking to Alistair about going Africa “If they’ve even got 1 ” he says responding to Alistair about the ancient tribes about marketing the cure for cancer .

This time i watched The blind side its a movie about a young black boy who gets addopted by a white family and starts to playamercian football . Its a true story and  a little funny . The Blind Side is a 2009 American semi-biographical sports drama film. It is written and directed by John Lee Hancock, and based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis .  I think that the moral of the story is that you dont have to be a specific colour to do something you can do anything you whant to as long as you put your mind to it .

This time I read a book called Horrible History Georgian times . Horrible Histories is a funny fact book about different times when different kings ruled and what they did and some battles they did . But its mostly a funny book . The Horrible History book Georgian times are teaching us about what they wore , what wars they did , what jobs their were (like tooth picking from dead bodies to make a set of false teath) and disease they had and how they cured them (like the black death disease).Horrible Histories is also a Tv show mostly watched by childeren . horrible histories logo

I think that this book is trying to tach us about important things in life in a fun way.

Today I saw the movie “The Hobbit an uneimagesxpected journey” it’s a really good movie about a hobbit its also quite funny although it was a fictional story but it was still a good movie . The Hobbit was made in 2012 , it’s an epic fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson. It is the first of a three-part film adaptation of the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J. R. R . The Hobbit had a good build-up and plot . I think that the moral of the story is that you don’t always have to do certain things because of your race or be a certain way.

Shadow ForestSo far I’ve read Shadow Forest , it’s a very good book about Samuel and Martha who’s  mum and dad die in a car crash caused by logs so they go to stay with their aunt Eda who’s house is right near the forest thats full of magical creatures like witches and trolls. The book was written by Matt Haig and is a blue Peter book award winner and a children’s book . personally I think the book was really good and i’d recommend it to anyone who likes reading adventurous fiction . The Shadow Forest is a surprising book that takes alot of twist and turns untill you get to the end .
